The Warhead Industries brushless motor is the pinnacle of motor technology in Airsoft.
This motor is the (Short Shaft) version, ideal for most builds. This is the ideal drop-in motor for most gearboxes and the one to grab if you're unsure about anything or just starting out in your tech journey.
The constant contact of the brushes with the power terminals of a brushed motor is necessary for it to maintain its rotation. However, the friction that this creates means that a huge portion of the energy generated by the rotational motion is wasted as heat. Generally, the efficiency of brushed motors is limited within the range of 75% to 80%.
Brushed motors are notorious for having parts that get worn out after a while, requiring frequent dismantling and parts replacement. This is because the brushes of the commutator need to maintain almost constant contact with the terminals of the power source, even as the commutator rotates rapidly. When brushes get worn out and can no longer maintain contact, a brushed DC motor basically becomes useless.
This is less of a problem with brushless motors. In fact, there is essentially no contact between the rotor and stator of a brushless motor, so wear and tear are greatly reduced.
These motors now come with the enhanced pinion gear made by SHS
Warhead Ind' Brushless Motor (Short - Ultra RPM)
Warhead brushless motors work perfectly with all aftermarket control system including the BTC Spectre, Gate Titan, Jefftron Leviathan and Perun Optical/Hybrid units.
Active braking may be used as the Warhead motor will simply turn itself off should it detect a short circuit. Do keep it to low (short) amounts as higher levels may cause timing issues with the gearbox.
Precocking may be used as normal.
ROF control should be avoided as the Warhead motor expects to see constant DC power from the battery.
When installing the grub screw on the D-pinion, we recommend applying a small amount of Loctite 270 or 648 locking compound.
We recommend lightly coating the teeth of the pinion gear with Superlube PTFE grease.
